People complain that the caste system is racist. It wasn't meant to be racist. The caste system was based on how noble or evil the person was. That is why pious saddhus, rich or poor, of any race, were considered Brahmins. Shudras were criminals who usually wore Sudras hence called sudra, slave level criminals, untouchables. These days they wear kippahs. Call dalit Kippahs, because most criminals of this world are kippahs.
Labelling these untouchable criminal slaves sudras was an ancient and a sophisticated method of yellowbadging. There was no need to force these untouchable criminal pest slaves to wear yellow badges. They used to wear sudras back then. Nowadays they wear kippahs. Sudras are kippahs. Kippahs are Sudras.
